Sweet baby Lyla decided to join this world a little sooner than anticipated but we’re so happy that she did! This session was filled with sibling joy, baby snuggles and dancing in the studio to Moana songs. This will go down as a Manchester NH Newborn Photographer favorite session!

Styling
During our planning of this session, Mom made one very clear request…”I want blue to make Ava’s eyes pop”. This was not my first session with this family so I knew Ava and her beautiful baby blues. During our session in the summer of 2023, Ava wore a dress that made her eyes look as blue as the ocean so I knew exactly what Mom meant!
After looking through my Client Wardrobe, Mom picked a few white dresses that she really loved and I knew I had the perfect dress for Miss Ava. We had Dad just come with something he already had in his closet that would go with the blue and white theme.
For newborn sessions, I usually style Mom first and match everyone to her. Being a baby-led photographer means I do not put the newborns in silly props, outfits and hats. I will do a mix of shots with a simple white swaddle or a basic white onesie. For little girls, I love a sweet little bow like this one. Clients really love the ability to borrow these items from my Client Wardrobe so they don’t need to go shopping with all the other life changes going on.
Mom’s Dress
Mom’s dress is Nothing Fits But which is perfect for Mamas in the postpartum period because it is very flattering with the way it flows outward. Picking a dress that isn’t too tight is a must for making Mama feel confident. Also, we don’t want anything that could make her uncomfortable if she has stitches healing from a caesarean birth. This mom commented that it was one of the most comfortable dresses she has ever worn!
Ava’s Dress
For big sister Ava, we chose this Hope and Henry dress that has the little hints of blue to make those beautiful eyes pop! She was so proud of being a big sister and it was adorable to watch! She was so gentle with baby Lyla when she touched her face and kept saying “It’s okay, baby!”.
Toddler Gift
I know it’s not always easy with the transition into being a big sibling so I got a special gift just for her. I bought her a small wooden toy camera so she could “help” me take pictures of her baby sister! Toddlers LOVE being a big helper during sessions and pretend play is often the way to their heart. I love these wooden cameras from Etsy!
